Ho Hum

Not a lot going on over here. It's Sunday and I want to go shopping but I don't have any money. Gas is $3.43 at QT and I need to go take advantage of that bargain price. Gas prices are trippy. I don't understand why they're so high and I don't understand why EXXON is making such huge profits. I should probably read up on it so I'll be at least a little bit knowledgeable when I'm bitching about it, but I'm not ready for a nap yet. Bah. I remember when I could fill up for $16. I remember when gas was under $1! I feel like one of those old timers who talks about how stuff used to be, only I have less nose hair.

I'm going to be doing some traveling for work in the next few months. Compass and a few other banks were bought by a Spanish company, BBVA, and I'm going to be part of the team that trains the other banks how to be Compass. State National Bank has already converted and next up is Texas State Bank in August. I don't know yet where I'll be going or even when, but I'm looking forward to it. I think doing this will look good on my resume and I know it will expose me to new things. The only bummer is that I'll be gone for up to 6 weeks at a time and since I don't know where I'm going, I may not get to come home. Depends on how far away I am. Maybe I'll be near San Antone and I'll get to visit with a friend I haven't seen in a while ;) I will be getting some mad overtime, though, and that's always nice.

Guess that's all I've got for right now.

Oh, the horror.

There are just some things in life one should never be forced to endure. One is Barry Manilow. That dude is inexplicably offensive to me in all ways and I would rather pluck out my own two eyeballs than listen to him sing. Two: Freddie Prinze, Jr movies. I cannot believe people have paid that man for his work. I've seen used napkins with more talent than him, which is probably why he hasn't done anything in years. That sitcom was a joke and I can't believe I ever watched even one episode. But the thing I'm writing about...the thing I hope to never again experience...well, it's almost too difficult to even put down. You know how when you were little and you'd occasionally hear sounds coming from the direction of your parents' bedroom? You remember how oogey that made you feel? Suffice it to say that the same holds true if those sounds are coming from the room of you sibling. I don't really understand why it's so difficult to think about family members doing what comes naturally, but it is. It's oogey as hell and I sincerely hope that I'm not innocently sitting on the pot with no escape route the next time someone in this house feels amorous.

picture posting is the debil!

Okay, so I've got some learning to do, obviously. Why are my pictures showing up cropped like that? I get that they're too big for the viewing area, but why won't it re-size to accommodate? Do I need to re-size my pics?

doggies

Just some cute pictures of my puppies.

"Put me down!", she seems to say

It's probably a good thing I don't have a better camera or else I'd be taking pictures all day long.

expiration dates: set in stone or mere suggestion?

We have a customer here at the bank who is very good to us tellers. He has a couple of vending machines and he always brings us his extra snacks. This means we have a constant supply of Funions, Fritos, Hot Cheetos, Oreos, Doritos, and any number of other snack-type goodies. Now, when I say "extra", of course what I really mean is "out-of-date". I don't know what it says for us that this doesn't seem to bother any of us in the slightest. It's a bit scary when our customer comes in because we all attack him like he's...well, like he's carrying free snacks. None of us have suffered any ill-effects from our noshings, but there's always that chance.

Bank Customers are the debil!

PEOPLE!! Ask me if I give a frick about your damn buffer! Just ask me! What the bloody hell is a buffer anyway? some sort of random banking term you've invented that I'm somehow supposed to know? don't talk to me about your buffer and expect me to know what you're talking about, you sweat from a baboon's balls! You are a skidmark on the underwear of society and I sincerely hope your butt grows together!

Okay, can I talk to you about 3rd party checks? Here's how it works: if someone is going to sign a check over to you, then that someone needs to come in to the bank with you in order to do it. He/she needs to have a VALID ID... if it's expired IT'S NOT VALID. And I need you not to give me a hard time about it. How would you feel if I found a check made payable to you, had a friend sign your name on the back, then deposited it into my account? Cuz that's basically what you're asking me to do. How the flip do I know that the signature on the back is that of the person on the front? I don't, not unless I see that person with my own 2 eyes and he/she presents me with his/her ID! Now go away until you can provide these things for me!!!

Let me ask you something. Do you think I sit around all day with all my little banker friends doing nothing more than thinking up ways to make your life miserable? Why would I do this? Do you think it's somehow fun or enjoybale for me to be verbally abused by you? Would it be too much of a stretch for you to think that maybe all these little rules are put in place to protect you and your precious money, and not to make your life difficult? Get a clue already! And chill out!

My cat, by any other name...

would still have no balls. So that is what I call him. "No Balls". This is, of course, his modified name, as he was once known simply as "Balls". A quick trip to the vet took care of that little issue. His given name is "Thumbs" but he would never know it. More often than not, he's just "Cat". I have to assume this offends his feline sensibilites, as I imagine it is similar to my own feelings when someone addresses me as "Girl". Luckily for me that really only happens when I go to Joe's Pizza and Pasta, which, for some reason always seems to be staffed with Eastern Europeans. I guess it's just another one of life's little oddities.
